The Hyde Removals Modern Slavery Statement
Introduction and Purpose
This Modern Slavery Statement is made by The Hyde Removals in respect of our financial year and sets out the steps we are taking to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. As a removals and relocation business, we recognise our responsibility to uphold and champion human rights, fair working conditions, and ethical conduct in all areas of our activity.
Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy
The Hyde Removals has a zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, including forced labour, bonded labour, child labour, servitude, and human trafficking. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all business dealings and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure that modern slavery is not taking place within our own business or in any part of our supply chains.
All directors, managers, employees, contractors, and suppliers are expected to support this commitment. Any breach of this policy by an employee may result in disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal. Any breach by a supplier or contractor may result in the termination of our relationship with them.
Our Business and Supply Chains
The Hyde Removals provides domestic and commercial removals, storage, and related services. Our operations rely on a range of suppliers, including vehicle providers, fuel and equipment suppliers, warehousing and storage partners, and labour agencies. We understand that some sectors and geographies pose higher risks of modern slavery, and we focus our due diligence efforts accordingly.
We aim to build long-term relationships with reputable suppliers and to work collaboratively with them to uphold high labour and human rights standards.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We expect all suppliers to operate in full compliance with applicable labour, employment, and human rights laws and to share our zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery. As part of our procurement and onboarding processes, we seek assurance that suppliers:
Demonstrate lawful and fair recruitment practices.
Provide safe and decent working conditions.
Respect working time, wages, and benefits obligations.
Do not use forced, bonded, or involuntary labour of any kind.
Do not employ child labour contrary to local law or international standards.
Where appropriate and proportionate to risk, we conduct supplier audits or request evidence of their own modern slavery controls, such as policies, training records, and due diligence procedures. We reserve the right to carry out on-site assessments or to instruct independent auditors to verify compliance with our expectations. Where issues are identified, we will work with the supplier to agree a corrective action plan, or, in serious cases, we may end the relationship.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
The Hyde Removals encourages a culture of openness, where concerns about modern slavery or unethical conduct can be raised without fear of retaliation. All employees, workers, contractors, and suppliers are encouraged to report any suspicion or knowledge of modern slavery within our operations or supply chains.
Concerns can be raised directly with a line manager, a senior manager, or a designated member of the leadership team. Reports will be treated seriously, investigated promptly, and handled as confidentially as reasonably possible. We will not tolerate any form of victimisation or detrimental treatment of anyone who raises a concern in good faith.
Training and Awareness
We are committed to increasing awareness of modern slavery risks among our workforce. Relevant employees, including those involved in procurement, recruitment, and supply chain management, receive training on identifying signs of modern slavery and the appropriate steps to take when concerns arise. Ongoing communication reinforces the importance of ethical behaviour and responsible sourcing.
Monitoring, Governance, and Annual Review
Responsibility for overseeing our approach to modern slavery rests with the senior management team of The Hyde Removals. They are accountable for ensuring that appropriate policies, controls, and training are in place and that identified risks are addressed in a timely manner.
This Statement and our underlying practices are reviewed at least annually, and more frequently if required by changes in legislation, guidance, or our business operations. As part of the annual review, we assess the effectiveness of our measures, consider feedback from employees and stakeholders, and identify opportunities for improvement in our due diligence, auditing, and training.
This Modern Slavery Statement has been approved by the leadership of The Hyde Removals and reflects our ongoing commitment to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking in all aspects of our work.
